fallen angels, oh how might the world grow?
but beneath your toes the grass folds and shakes
as you find yourself within a future you once never thought possible
no longer holy, hiding wilting wings
feathers burning, slightly singed
a tainted halo, a scar of what was once before
a ever-lasting reminder of what is never more
but was it worth it?
was it worth it to give up everything you had
was it lust or love, pride or envy?
was it planned or on a whim, to rebel against the norm?
the things you did were quite audacious
but you’ve been cast out; you’re so rapacious
do you feel shame for what you’ve done?
to live in infamy as the cost for your fun
